Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been 4,000 reported cases of hate crimes against Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) people and businesses and unfortunately, these hate crimes have continued to increase exponentially over that past few months.
Of those 4,000 reported hate crimes against Asians, 500 of them occurred in the last two months.
As a company and as a team, we must talk about these acts of hate and violence and show our support for our peers in the AAPI community—it would be irresponsible not to.
The Beachbody Company condemns all forms of violence, racism, hate, and xenophobia. We stand in solidarity with our AAPI colleagues, partners, creators, and broader community today and every day.
Standing with solidarity with the AAPI community, The Beachbody Foundation will be contributing a sizeable donation to Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC.
Rooted in the dreams of immigrants and inspired by the promise of opportunity, Advancing Justice | AAJC advocates for an America in which all Americans can benefit equally from, and contribute to, the American dream. Their mission is to advance the civil and human rights of Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
Additionally, Openfit will be hosting a Unity Walk in solidarity with the AAPI community on April 10th. For every mile we travel as a team in this 40-minute live trainer-led class, Openfit will donate $5 to Advancing Justice | AAJC in support of its goal to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
